Africa is 14 times bigger than Greenland, but many maps show them the same size.

The Mercator projection (1569) distorts size near the poles. Greenland appears enormous while Africa appears smaller. In reality, Africa (30.4 million km²) could fit the US, China, India, and Europe inside it — with room to spare.
