The first 3D-printed organ (a bladder) was successfully transplanted in 1999.

Dr. Anthony Atala grew a bladder from a patient's own cells and implanted it. Today, 3D printing is used for bones, skin grafts, and ear cartilage. Full organ printing is in development.
